Frames from the video taken looking over the hood of Gainesville Police Officer James Hecksel's vehicle during Hecksel's alleged shooting of Corey Rice. Rice died in the hospital 4 hours later. Rice's car backs up (frames 1-5), then pulls forward (frames 6-8) and leaves the scene. Hecksel is in upper left of each frame. A video clip encompassing the time of the shooting is available on the Gainesville Sun's website, www.gvillesun.com. According to the autopsy, as reported by the Gainesville Sun, three bullets hit Rice: one entered through the back of his left arm, another hit the back of his left shoulder and a third entered through his back and left through his chest. Hecksel fired seven shots altogether, according to the Sun (June 29, 2001.)
